There are times when IRCTC end up cancelling the trains and hence a lot of passengers gets impacted because of this. Some of the times, the cancellation is pre-planned however, sometimes, the trains are cancelled on an ad-hoc basis. This can be really problematic but having the information about the cancellation beforehand can be quite helpful.
Some of the cases when IRCTC cancels the trains include the cases of riots, strikes and sometimes, these are natural causes like fog and other weather-related issue. It can be an advantage to check the train status and knowing about the cancellation can be of a great help in re-planning the journey. IRCTC Next Generation Website displays the list of cancelled trains and you can check the list without IRCTC Registration or IRCTC Login.

Another way to check the list of trains cancelled is through National Train Enquiry System and to check it via National Train Enquiry System you need to visit https://enquiry.indianrail.gov.in/ntes/index.html. On this portal, you need to click on Cancelled Trains on the top menu and it will display the list of the trains that have been cancelled along with the train number, train name, start date, train type, source and destination. We certainly prefer this method as this method is quite user-friendly and it makes it easy to check the complete list without having to open all the different notices.
If your train has been cancelled by IRCTC then you will get a full refund of your ticket amount. In addition to this, you need to book a ticket for some other train so as to travel to your destination. Do check for IRCTC Seat Availability in alternative trains and also check the CNF Probability of the trains. If you book your ticket in waitlist then you must keep checking the IRCTC PNR Status regularly to ensure that the train has been confirmed.
